Robert Johnston, Attorney

Robert earned his Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management Technology from Arizona State University in 2001 and spent his first professional decade working as a flight instructor and a captain in the air charter industry. Although he enjoys helping transport people, Robert is called to simply help people, and in 2013, he graduated Cum Lade from the University of La Verne College of Law with this goal in mind.

While at the University of La Verne College of Law Robert earned the prestigious CALI award in Property and in Advanced Evidence Practicum. He was on Law Review, never failed to make the Dean’s List, and took every unit that he was permitted as an extern in the Disability Rights Legal Center. This is where he discovered his calling: helping children with special needs to receive the supports that make significant and positive changes in their lives.

Robert is father to three twice-exceptional children, the younger ones with autism and the older one in college. Additionally, Robert and his wife are sometimes resource parents to children in the foster system. Robert understands the wide range of challenges parents must overcome for their children.

Although professionally, Robert has never stopped helping families of special needs children obtain placements, services, entitlements and supports, he has a wide base of other legal experience. Robert has helped his clients with issues ranging from civil litigation to estate planning, bond issuances to business disputes, and even teaching law as an adjunct professor. Of all the work Robert has performed, helping families like his receive support to raise up their children to be well-adjusted and productive is by far and away Robert’s favorite work. He is thrilled to join Woodsmall Law Group and focus on helping families.
